Who We Are Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time, overseeing and evolving Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario’s future electricity needs. Our employees play a key role in driving grid innovation, protecting the system from threats, advancing the province’s energy conservation programs, and forecasting and procuring the electricity resources we’ll need in the decades to come. This role is a unionized role within the Legal Resources Corporate Governance Department.
Role and Responsibilities
Analyst, Nuclear and Strategic Contracts will support the prudent management, monitoring, and assessment of key IESO contracts, including the Amended and Restated Bruce Power Refurbishment Implementation Agreement (ARBPRIA). Reporting to the Supervisor, the Analyst will collaborate with Specialists and Senior Advisors to conduct analysis, enhance due‑diligence processes, and assist in resolving contract‑related issues. This role requires strong technical and financial acumen to interpret complex agreements and develop analytical tools that improve IESO’s reporting and contract‑management capabilities.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact by contributing to the IESO team and supporting the electricity needs of the province through:
Nuclear Contract Management
- Provide Support For All Monitoring, Analysis, And Assessment Of The Bruce Power Contract (Amended & Restated Bruce Power Refurbishment Implementation Agreement) And Other Agreements, Including But Not Limited To
- Supporting the review, analysis and assessment of performance metrics measured against contractual obligations
- Tracking development and assisting with due diligence procedures and responsibilities on financial or cost/schedule estimate reports and supporting documentation
- Tracking development and assisting with due diligence procedures on contractual reporting
- For the ARBPRIA, tracking and analyzing Lifetime Asset Management Plan supplements and asset management scope movements
- Supporting the tracking, monitoring and reporting on both IESO and Counterparty contract obligations, and producing high level visualized reports
- Developing presentations and reports relating to contracting matters, disputes, and issues
- Assisting with procurement of external consultants (legal, technical, financial etc.) to support the group and creation of proposal evaluation materials and evaluation administration
Financial and Quantitative Analysis
- Provide financial and quantitative analysis related to the refurbishment contract by using the following techniques: Using existing, modifying or creating new analytical tools to conduct analysis
- Understanding financial modeling to be able to execute various scenarios and assess outcomes
- Analyzing contractual risks and opportunities
Other Responsibilities
- Conducting research on topics and issues related to electricity supply and the broader energy sector through internet, conferences / technical sessions, internal content experts, and/or external industry experts
- Interface and provide support to internal and external stakeholders as required including other IESO departments, Government and stakeholders.

To Succeed In This Role, You’ll Need
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, business, finance or economics
- Relevant power sector, project management or numerical/financial modeling work experience is not a requirement but would be an asset
- Pursuit or completion of a financial, technical or other professional designation, such as P.Eng, CFA, PMP, etc., would be beneficial
- General knowledge of legal, economic, financial, and/or engineering technical aspects of power generation
- General knowledge of the technical and/or commercial aspects of electricity generation, including nuclear power
- Demonstration of excellent analytical, financial modeling (using excel), problem solving and presentation skills - able to analyze raw data, organize large amount of categorical data, draw conclusions and develop practical recommendations
- Advanced knowledge and skill level of Excel and visualization tools such as Tableau, knowledge of relational database tools such as Access is an asset.
- Ability to generate high quality reports
- Strong coordinating and organizing skills to manage own priorities and workflow
- Self-starter able to develop models and perform analyses with minimal supervision
- Honed interpersonal skills for effective relationship development/management and is comfortable presenting findings internally or externally
