Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Book Manager to oversee the management and promotion of our library or bookstore collection. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for literature, and the ability to engage with the community through public speaking and marketing efforts. This role involves curating collections, engaging with patrons, and ensuring the smooth operation of our book-related programs and initiatives. The Book Manager plays a vital role in fostering a love for reading while maintaining an efficient and inviting environment.
Responsibilities
- Curate and organize book collections to ensure accessibility and relevance to our audience
- Plan and deliver engaging public speaking events, book readings, and community outreach programs
- Conduct research on new titles, authors, and literary trends to keep collections current and appealing
- Proofread promotional materials, newsletters, and event descriptions for accuracy and clarity
- Develop marketing strategies to promote upcoming events, new arrivals, and reading programs
- Manage social media accounts to increase visibility and engagement with the community
- Collaborate with authors, local organizations, and schools to foster partnerships
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, circulation statistics, and event attendance
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons with inquiries and recommendations
Experience
- Proven experience in library management, bookstore operations, or related roles is preferred
- Strong public speaking skills with experience in hosting or presenting at events
- Excellent research abilities to stay informed about current literary trends
- Demonstrated proofreading and editing skills for promotional content
- Experience in marketing or social media management is advantageous
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to write compelling content for various platforms and audiences
