<p>Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the candidate will be part of the engineering team that brings first to market systems to the Defense industry. The position allows the candidate to be involved in all aspects of the project phase including concept, research, design development, prototyping, and validation testing.</p><p>This position enjoys a 9/80 work schedule. They will have past knowledge and experience working with composites in a similar environment. They will be a self-motivated, independent professional to support both our established business and our new business opportunities. They will be able to lead customer projects from concept to customer by interpreting customer requirements and providing creative and state of the art concept solutions to meet program deliverables in a timely and cost-efficient manner.</p><p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES<br><br>Generate creative, innovative technical solutions to challenging problems by employing advanced composite materials.</p><p>Coordinate testing of materials, components, and assemblies to evaluate engineering properties and conformance to operational requirements.</p><p>Proactively work with management group to improve existing processes and operations by introducing new technology to improve current processes.</p><p>Manage internal projects and customer programs to ensure on timely delivery in a cost-effective manner while meeting form, fit and functional requirements</p><p>Be an effective communicator to interact with internal teams and external customers on program related topics.</p><p>Provides technical leadership and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers</p><p>Support the Quality and Program Management teams at FPH with customer inquiries as they relate to product form, fit, function in a timely and professional manner and provide feedback accordingly.</p><p>Support new business quoting opportunities as required. Collaborate with Business Development to review engineering standards and functional requirements specific to each customer</p><p>Develop a knowledge of composites manufacturing processes, for example; hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, bonding, and machining.</p><p>Develop an awareness and knowledge of state of the art technology advancements in the field of composites design and manufacturing.</p><p>Create, develop and guide concepts through product design, materials and process, prototyping, testing, and qualification towards the end result of a production ready product.</p><p>Understand the fundamentals of composite processing and material development. Applications can include various defense composite structures as well as thermal and electrical protection systems.</p><p>Support the creation of test plans, requests for proposals, and quotes in a professional manner. Development of associated tests, specifications, plans, drawings and other products required to support design, verification and certification</p><p>Create concise, accurate and grammatically correct reports.</p><p>Develop and maintain the material processing and component fabrication capabilities in support of advanced composite component and bonded assembly development requirements for programs.</p><p>Follow regulations and policies as outlined in company's employee handbook</p><p>Follow requirements as required by Controlled Goods Registration and other defense sector registrations (ie ITAR, etc.)</p><p>Other duties or projects as assigned</p><p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p><p>Post-Secondary education (undergrad or masters) in Mechanical or Materials Engineering</p><p>2 or more years of direct composite industry specific experience</p><p>Ability to create, interpret and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, design documents, schematics, drawings and part lists</p><p>Excellent Solidworks modeling ability and excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications.</p><p>Experience with ASTM standards for testing of composites.</p><p>Strong background in materials, manufacturing processes and chemical processes</p><p>Experience with Solidworks design and FEA software applications as they apply to composite materials.</p><p>Able to rapidly work and learn with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams</p><p>Ability to demonstrate a detail oriented and analytical thought process</p><p>Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills</p><p>Excellent written and verbal communications skills</p><p>Demonstrate initiative, reliability and positive team attitude</p><p>Able to work in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment with emphasis on rapid prototyping and fielding capabilities.</p><p>FPH Group welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
