Overview

Long Term Occasional Assignment OECTA. The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) is seeking a Long Term Occasional teacher for the above noted school to provide coverage for a teacher on leave. The OCSB serves over 50,000 students in 91 schools and focuses on an inclusive Catholic‑principles education. The Board is committed to equitable hiring and an inclusive workforce that reflects the diversity of its students and communities.

The role requires the candidate to be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and to have completed the Sexual Abuse Prevention Training through OCT.

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • Successful completion of the Sexual Abuse Prevention Training through OCT.
  • Salary details are determined in accordance with Article 32 of the OECTA Collective Agreement. Effective September 1, 2025, salaries range from $51,234.00 to $119,943.00.

Responsibilities and Work Context

The OCSB is seeking a Long Term Occasional teacher to provide coverage for a teacher on leave at the noted school. Specific duties will be determined by the school and in alignment with the Ontario College of Teachers and OECTA collective agreement.

Process for Selection

  • The school board shall identify the three most senior applicants who are available and meet the required qualifications for the assignment.
  • An Occasional Teacher shall be considered available if not already assigned to another LTO position during the term of the assignment.
  • Each of the three most senior applicants shall be contacted to confirm interest. If any decline, the board shall contact the next most senior qualified applicant to ensure five applicants are considered.
  • If fewer than three qualified applicants apply, the board shall select the successful applicant from the qualified applicants.
  • If no qualified applicants apply or all decline, the board may hire an external qualified teacher not on the roster.
  • Successful candidates not currently employed by the OCSB will be required to submit a negative PRC for the Vulnerable Sector dated within the last six months as part of the hiring process.
