Property Accountant / Senior Property Accountant
Our client:
Our client is a Toronto-based commercial real estate company managing a retail portfolio. The team is dynamic, collaborative, and growing, offering a hybrid work environment and opportunities to make an immediate impact.
Principal tasks and responsibilities include:
- Month-end reporting, variance analysis, bank reconciliations, and tax filings (GST/QST)
- Preparing quarterly audit packages and liaising with auditors
- Drafting annual financial statements and cost statements
- Managing operating costs, CAM recoveries, and realty tax billings
- Preparing and maintaining operating and capital budgets, including quarterly re-forecasts
- Supporting new property acquisitions
- Assisting with ad-hoc projects as required
Junior-level candidates:
- 1-3 years accounting experience, ideally in property or real estate
- Exposure to financial reporting, CAM recoveries, or budgeting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
- Progressing toward or holding a CPA designation (preferred)
- Strong Excel skills, ERP experience a plus (Yardi preferred)
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- 3+ years accounting experience in property/real estate
- Solid experience with month-end processes, CAMs, reserves, budgeting, and forecasting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
- CPA designation preferred
- Advanced Excel and ERP skills (Yardi a plus)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams
- Flexibility to travel to properties as needed
- Competitive salary: $80,000- $85,000, based on experience, senior comp depending on experience
