Senior Structural Engineer

Job Description

<p><h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management.</li>
<li>Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry, and compile engineering packages.</li>
<li>Analyze structural systems and elements using analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and other structural programs.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, and ensure the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans.</li>
<li>Accountable for delivering all engineering deliverables/tasks to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.</li>
<li>Provide technical instructions to junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation.</li>
<li>Review and comment on work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and design documentation.</li>
<li>Check that work performed meets the quality requirements in accordance with company QA programs and manuals.</li>
<li>Participate in formal engineering design reviews as may be mandated for design changes in question.</li>
<li>Prepare engineering estimates and technical write‑ups for proposals.</li>
<li>Perform plant walkdowns as required to support design requirement definition and detailed engineering of design modifications.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Civil Engineering degree from an accredited university (Master’s degree and above is an asset).</li>
<li>Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada; preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.</li>
<li>Minimum 12 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.</li>
<li>Preferred: 3 to 5 years of design experience in nuclear power plants.</li>
<li>Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design‑office and site experience.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of Canadian and international codes and standards used in civil/structural engineering.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of commonly used analysis software such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc.</li>
<li>Experience with static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.</li>
<li>Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.</li>
<li>Travel to client sites is required.</li>
