About the Role
This role is an integral part of the Operations Engineering – Systems team, supporting the business by designing and maintaining complex test processes that align with product specifications. The focus is on ensuring the highest quality product is manufactured through safety, quality, and efficiency initiatives. The role requires working with cross‑functional teams and applying project management fundamentals to both planned and unplanned projects. Success begins with a process‑oriented approach that cultivates robust manufacturing and deep learning of system‑level interactions between hardware, software, and firmware.
Responsibilities
- Must be a team player, able to interact and communicate effectively with team members across the organization to achieve short and long‑term milestones.
- Develop a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes and design requirements unique to WESCAM.
- Collaborate with the Design Engineering team, translating new requirements into robust manufacturing processes or specifications that support new test software and test equipment.
- Design and maintain manufacturing processes including Acceptance Tests and Environmental Stress Screening.
- Lead and participate in multiple projects related to New Product Introduction (NPI) and or Sustaining Product.
- Possess the agility to manage and drive both small and large‑scale projects.
- Act as a point of contact for assistance in troubleshooting and resolving system‑level mechanical, electro‑mechanical and electro‑optical manufacturing issues.
- Analyze trends, events and manufacturing challenges with the goal of eliminating their impact on production.
- Hands‑on development work to understand and stabilize the processes used to validate and test product.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects using the following principles:
- Safety, Design for Manufacturability and Ergonomics
- Process Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (PFMEA)
- Lessons Learned and Waste Reduction using Six Sigma philosophy
- Conduct 8D root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Assess Engineering / Production Change Requests and own the implementation of the changes as required.
- Act as a backup point of contact to your peers on the team as required.
- Support any other business priorities as required by Operations Engineering leadership.
- Create business rationales behind capital expenditures, including return on investment.

Experience & Education Requirements
- Must have a well‑rounded engineering and/or process background with manufacturing engineering experience in a high‑tech environment (preferred).
- University degree, or 3‑year college diploma coupled with relevant work experience in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Systems Engineering.
- Lean Green Belt Certification or equivalent industry experience.
- PMP designation an asset, but not required.
- P.Eng or C.E.T designation an asset, but not required.
- AS9100 knowledge and experience an asset, but not required.
- C# or similar coding language and asset, but not required.
