<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Staff Accountant – Public Accounting Firm</strong><br /><strong>Location:</strong> Barrie, ON (On-Site)<br /><strong>Job Type:</strong> Full-Time<br /><strong>Salary:</strong> $45,000–$60,000 (commensurate with experience)</p><p><strong>About the Opportunity:</strong><br />Our client, a reputable and growing public accounting firm in Barrie, is seeking a <strong>Staff Accountant</strong> to support their assurance and tax teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a <strong>junior accounting professional</strong> with some prior experience in public practice who's looking to build their career in a collaborative and client-focused environment.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Assist with preparing <strong>Notice to Reader (NTR)</strong> working paper files and financial statements</p></li><li><p>Prepare <strong>T1 (personal)</strong> and <strong>T2 (corporate)</strong> tax returns</p></li><li><p>Help with <strong>HST, T4, T5</strong> and other regulatory filings</p></li><li><p>Perform account reconciliations and basic bookkeeping</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with the team to support clients with their year-end needs</p></li><li><p>Communicate with clients to request documentation and respond to questions</p></li><li><p>Support the team during <strong>peak tax season (February–April)</strong> with extended hours when needed</p></li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li><p>1–3 years of experience in <strong>public accounting</strong></p></li><li><p>Post-secondary diploma or degree in <strong>Accounting or Finance</strong></p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of <strong>Caseware, QuickBooks, Excel, and personal/corporate tax software</strong></p></li><li><p>Basic understanding of accounting and tax principles (ASPE, CRA compliance)</p></li><li><p>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills</p></li><li><p>Good communication skills and a client-service mindset</p></li><li><p>Eagerness to learn and grow within a public practice environment</p></li></ul><p><strong>Why Join?</strong></p><ul><li><p>Gain hands-on exposure to a wide variety of small business clients</p></li><li><p>Work in a team-oriented and supportive office culture</p></li><li><p>Opportunity to develop your skills across accounting, tax, and client service</p></li><li><p>Stable, in-person role with career development potential</p></li><li><p>Competitive salary and vacation</p></li></ul><p></p></p></p>Browse Jobs in Canada by City
