Job Description
Plans, leads, executes and manages the day to day operations of Home Base Programs in accordance with regulatory requirements, 360°kids' policies, mission and vision of the organization. Oversees a team of workers to deliver sound and innovative programming and care for at-risk youth. Conveys and demonstrates leadership style that supports a culture of inclusion and community capacity building. Reports to the Manager of Youth HUB.Schedule : Tues-Sat 9am-5pm with some flexibility
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day organization and operation of the Home Base Drop-In Programs.
Work in consultation with Manager of Youth HUB to select and facilitate activities aimed at achieving the desired outcomes of the program.
Works with the Manager of Youth HUB to ensure that the Home Base programs are in line with the stated mission and vision of the organization.Â
Provides direction to Home Base in terms of operations & programs, in accordance with the approved Strategic Plan of 360°kids.
Ensures that appropriate policies, procedures, and methods are being utilized.Â
Ensures that the Home Base programs and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
Provides reports and related information as required to the Manager of Youth HUB, other designated organizations, and appropriate regulatory agencies and ensures staff completes mandatory recording and reporting. Â
Along with the Manager of Youth HUB, provides leadership for the Home Base programs in team building and motivation of employees, manages for high performance and oversees plans for the training, development, and retention of Home Base staff to ensure ongoing competent, experienced and effective management of the programs.
In consultation with the Manager of Youth HUB hires and terminates staff for all program positions. Recruits and supervises volunteers and students.
In the event of a crisis or critical incident, exercises judgement and initiative in managing contact with management.
With the assistance of the Manager of Youth HUB monitors the program's finances and the development and implementation of actions plans, supports fund-raising, as needed, to improve financial performance.
Other duties as required.
Education & Skills required
Post-Secondary degree/diploma in a Child/youth related field, with a focus on Mental Health and Addictions (e.g. Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
Minimum of three years' experience working with "at-risk" or street involved youth.
Experience using a case management system or HIFIS and VI-SPDAT an asset.
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, suicide prevention training an asset.
Current First Aid/CPR certification
Current Broad Record Check (criminal background check).Car and valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
Thorough understanding of issues pertaining to youth and knowledge of relevant legislation.
Thorough understanding of adolescent development and the impact of mental health and substance use difficulties.
Must possess excellent communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
Ability to work independently with groups of youth and as part of a team.
Broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
