Job Description

Position: Temporary Works Design Engineer
Location: Downtown Toronto (Hybrid)
Salary: $100K - $110K

Take your civil engineering expertise to the next level by joining a team delivering temporary works solutions on some of Ontario’s most significant infrastructure projects. This role is perfect for a civil or utility engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in temporary works and method engineering, ready to combine hands-on technical work with project coordination and management responsibilities.

As a Temporary Works Engineer/Designer, you’ll develop designs for temporary structures such as crane and pad foundations, temporary roads, site servicing, and utility diversion works. You’ll contribute to the creation of temporary works packages, ensuring seamless integration across civil, utilities, and structural disciplines. Your work will include preparing and reviewing drawings, specifications, and reports, as well as coordinating with design teams, suppliers, and clients to keep projects on track.

You’ll also gain exposure to field inspections, site assessments, and construction monitoring, giving you a comprehensive perspective on both design and execution. Advanced software and technical skills — including AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MicroStation, SAP, and PLAXIS — will be essential in delivering precise, safe, and compliant designs. Knowledge of stormwater management and hydraulic analysis tools is a strong asset.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 3–5 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably with transit, roadway, or stormwater infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of municipal, provincial, and MTO standards, as well as design guidelines for utilities and site works
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • P.Eng. licensure or working toward certification in Ontario
If you thrive in fast-paced, technically challenging projects, enjoy combining design with fieldwork, and want to develop your project management and organizational skills, this is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact on Ontario’s infrastructure.
