Further information is available at www.newflyer.com.</p><p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY</strong></p><p>As an <strong>Abrasive Blaster</strong> on the <strong>Corrosion Team</strong>, you play a key role in ensuring the longevity and durability of New Flyer’s buses. You will be responsible for <strong>sandblasting, washing, and prepping,</strong> the bus frame to meet strict quality and safety standards. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety while working with high-pressure air lines, confined spaces, and abrasive materials.</p><p><strong>WHY JOIN OUR TEAM:</strong></p><ul><li>Competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package.</li></ul><ul><li>A continuous learning environment.</li><li>Ability to advance your career with a growing company.</li><li>NFI Group was named a Manitoba Top Employer for 2020 and this is the tenth time since the competition was established in 2007.</li><li>Employee social committee organizes numerous events throughout the year, including summer barbecues, holiday festivities, sporting events and tournaments, and much more.</li><li>Ongoing employee development through a variety of in-house training initiatives along with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions.</li></ul><p><strong>WHAT YOU WILL DO:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Surface Preparation:</strong> Follow <strong>blueprints and process sheets</strong> to properly prepare bus frames for blasting and coating applications.</li><li><strong>Abrasive Blasting & Cleaning:</strong> Remove contaminants, rust, and old coatings using sandblasting techniques and <strong>high-pressure air lines</strong> to create a clean, uniform surface.</li><li><strong>Coating Application Support:</strong> Work closely with the <strong>painting and finishing team</strong> to ensure surfaces are prepped correctly for optimal adhesion and coating performance.</li><li><strong>Equipment & Maintenance:</strong> Operate and maintain blasting equipment, ensuring safe and efficient functionality while monitoring wear on abrasive materials.</li><li><strong>Safety & Compliance:</strong> Adhere to strict <strong>workplace safety procedures</strong>, especially when working at <strong>heights, in confined spaces, and with high-pressure equipment</strong>.</li></ul><p><strong>WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Understanding of surface preparation and abrasive blasting techniques</strong>—experience in industrial blasting, painting, or surface treatment is preferred.</li><li><strong>Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, and technical instructions</strong> to ensure precision and quality.</li><li><strong>Attention to detail</strong> when assessing pre-blasted surfaces for defects and readiness for the next phase.</li><li><strong>Physical stamina and safety awareness</strong>—comfortable working in a physically demanding environment and following all <strong>PPE, ventilation, and equipment safety protocols</strong>.</li><li><strong>Effective teamwork and independent work ability</strong>—collaborate in a team-oriented environment while taking initiative to complete tasks with <strong>minimal supervision</strong>.</li></ul><p><strong>OUR WHY: </strong></p><p>We exist to move people.
