This role focuses on tactical procurement activities and requires strong vendor management skills and attention to detail.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Process purchase orders for routine materials such as steel, fasteners, and standard components</li><li>Track shipments and deliveries to ensure materials arrive on schedule</li><li>Update inventory management systems with delivery information</li><li>Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts</li><li>Coordinate with Production Managers & Logistics and Scheduling Manager to understand material requirements</li><li>Maintain relationships with established suppliers of standard materials</li><li>Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, delivery issues, and quality concerns</li><li>Resolve routine problems with orders, deliveries, and product quality</li><li>Compare prices from different suppliers for standard materials</li><li>Negotiate pricing for standard items within established guidelines</li><li>Process and verify invoices against purchase orders and receipts</li><li>Maintain accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and supplier communications</li><li>Generate standard procurement reports (e.g., open order reports, delivery performance)</li><li>Document supplier quality issues and resolution actions</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><p><br></p><ul><li>3-5 years of relevant purchasing experience, ideally in construction or manufacturing.</li><li>Post-secondary education in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is an asset.</li><li>Experience with ERP systems and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.</li><li>Strong negotiation skills with an understanding of their impact on project timelines and costs.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, production teams, and internal stakeholders.</li><li>Proven experience in inventory control, ensuring materials are available without overstocking.</li><li>A motivated, proactive individual who works effectively both independently and as part of a team.</li><li>Demonstrates professionalism, honesty, and transparency in all procurement activities.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Location, Hours of Work & Working Conditions</b></p><p><br></p><ul><li><b>Location</b>: Vaughan</li><li><b>Hours of Work</b>: Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am to 3:00pm</li><li><b>Travel</b>: Occasional travel required</li><li>Primarily an office work environment</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>What We Offer</b></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Competitive salary and group benefits package starting from day 1</li><li>Group RRSP program with 100% employer match</li><li>Employee discounts</li><li>Company events & teambuilding activities</li><li>Ongoing learning & development opportunities to help build the career you want</li><li>Awards for top performers and employee tenure</li><li>A unique opportunity to build, grow and leave your impact on a multi-billion-dollar industry</li><li>Dynamic, informal and collaborative work environment</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Steelcon is an equal opportunity employer and encourages all qualified candidates to apply.
