Our client is a parent company offering shared services to a group of companies within the industrial construction space. The ideal person for this role will have a passion for and experience working within the privately owned, small- medium enterprise space in Canada. Our client is in growth mode and has current operations in both Canada and the US.
Role Overview
Reporting into the President and CEO, the Controller will be a part of strategic growth plans as well as handle day to day full cycle accounting while planning for growth and building an internal team.
Responsibilities
- Direct all accounting, compliance, and tax across Canada/U.S.
- Lead closes, consolidate reporting, and control cash flow.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Build teams, partner with auditors, and optimize systems.
Qualifications
- CPA designation with 10+ years progressive experience in an accounting or finance leadership role.
- Experience supporting construction, building material or project-based service businesses preferred
- Strong understanding of both Canadian and U.S. GAAP, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to manage accounting across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Great Planes, Netsuite or similar ERP platforms
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a process-driven mindset
