Job Bank is not responsible for this content.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li><b>Leadership & Staff Management</b> — Provide strong leadership and direction to all staff in seasonal, garden, general merchandise, paint & housewares departments. Assist HR with hiring, coaching, training, and advising on disciplinary action and morale. Create and manage front end store staff schedules. Provide staffing coverage and problem-solve daily operations issues. Motivate and manage staff performance with a focus on customer service and sales targets. Train staff in Home Hardware best practices, product knowledge and customer service strategies. Maintain an open-door policy that encourages staff to bring forward ideas, challenges, or concerns in a respectful and solution-focused environment. Participate in and contribute to store committees (HR, Health & Safety, Events, etc.).</li><li><b>Retail Operations</b> — Oversee store organization, cleanliness, and product presentation. Maintain stock levels, monitor reorders, and assess slow-moving SKUs. Direct merchandising strategies including end caps, power aisles, and seasonal transitions. Ensure product signage, pricing, and promotions are current and visually appealing. Work with Retail Analyst to optimize sales per square foot and display strategies. Execute business plans and meet monthly/yearly sales and margin goals.</li><li><b>Customer Service & Main Cash</b> — Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. Assist customers with product selection, advice, and special orders. Process transactions, returns, and address customer concerns promptly. Lead by example in how customers should be treated respectfully and attentively. Process and manage e-commerce and Purolator orders. Assist with deposits, reconcile tills, review credit repair errors, make required changes to the POS system, bank deposits, and till-related tasks. Maintain all POS equipment; troubleshoot and seek outside help when required. Answer phone calls and direct to appropriate associate/department. Be trained and knowledgeable in all front-end departments to provide support when needed.</li><li><b>Inventory & Merchandising</b> — Manage regular and seasonal inventory levels, including ordering and restocking. Review industry trends and recommend new product additions or changes. Reduce stale and slow-moving inventory through strategic markdowns and placement. Collaborate with all staff for seasonal merchandising switchovers. Maintain Power aisle merchandising program to maximize impulse sales.</li><li><b>Community & Brand Engagement</b> — Represent Armstrong's Home Hardware at local community events. Support promotional team with flyers, events, and advertising strategies. Attend Home Hardware markets, training sessions, and relevant industry tradeshows.
