Where collaboration is natural, voices are heard, and where safety, well-being, and personal development are core priorities.</p><p><br></p><p><b>The Opportunity</b></p><p>As the Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer, you will influence the design and performance of equipment trusted in some of the toughest environments on the planet. You will spend part of your day helping junior engineers grow their confidence and part of it beside colleagues who have spent a lifetime in this industry. Customers will come to know you by name because you are the person who explains what is happening in a way that makes sense, even when the situation is messy. Over time, your choices and your approach will influence how the company thinks about electrical engineering and where it goes next.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><p>As the Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:</p><p><b>1. Electrical Design & Technical Work</b></p><ul><li>Work with the electrical systems that power the company's mining equipment, adding thoughtful improvements and judgment to new and existing designs.</li><li>Review and produce detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and control architectures with care and accuracy.</li><li>Add your experience to decisions involving power distribution, protection schemes, and control logic, ensuring the work stands up to both code and field realities.</li></ul><p><b>2. Support for Customers & Field Challenges</b></p><ul><li>Speak with customers when equipment is not behaving as expected, listening carefully and offering explanations that bring clarity rather than confusion.</li><li>Visit mine sites occasionally to see issues firsthand, recognizing that certain challenges are best understood firsthand.</li><li>Work closely with internal teams to assess field information, identify root causes, and provide direction grounded in experience and sound reasoning.</li></ul><p><b>3. Collaboration, Mentorship & Team Development</b></p><ul><li>Guide and mentor junior engineers as they build their technical foundation, encouraging thoughtful decision making and attention to detail.</li><li>Collaborate with senior team members to exchange insights and contribute to collective problem solving on more complex assignments.</li><li>Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the electrical group by bringing consistency, thoughtful decision making, and a willingness to share what you know.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><p>As the Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer, you will possess the following qualities:</p><p><b>The Essentials (Hard Skills):</b></p><ul><li>Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and active registration as a Professional Engineer, or the ability to transfer your credentials to APEGS without delay.</li><li>5+ years of experience working with electrical systems in an industrial or mining environment, with an understanding of how equipment performs under demanding conditions.</li><li>Knowledge of electrical protection systems, control system automation, and the practical application of the Canadian Electrical Code and the rules that govern electricity in mines.</li><li>The ability to read, review, and produce electrical drawings and documentation across a range of tools, including Autodesk Vault and Zuken E3.</li><li>Experience working with PLC and HMI systems, including writing, reviewing, and debugging code.</li><li>Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C sharp, or Python, along with experience in web development, relational databases, or SQL, is considered an asset.</li><li>An understanding of Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation hardware and its use in equipment operating in demanding environments.</li><li>Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in mobile or industrial equipment.</li></ul><p>The Intangibles (Soft Skills)</p><ul><li>Clear communication style that allows you to explain technical matters in a way that is straightforward and practical.</li><li>Ability to listen closely and consider multiple viewpoints before offering a recommendation.</li><li>Reliability in your approach to work, particularly when reviewing details that protect equipment, production, and personal safety.</li><li>A sense of responsibility for the engineering decisions you make and an understanding of the trust placed in you by both the company and its customers.</li><li>An organized and thoughtful way of managing tasks, timelines, and follow-through, especially during periods of shifting priorities.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>What Our Client Offers</b></p><ul><li><b>Competitive Compensation -</b> Pay that reflects the responsibility of the role and the experience required.</li><li>H<b>ealth Benefits Support - </b>A group benefits plan with shared premiums to support your health, wellness, and family.</li><li><b>Retirement Planning - </b>An employer-matched savings program that encourages long-term security and planning for the years ahead.</li><li><b>Room to Grow - </b>Opportunities to take on increased responsibility as the engineering group continues to evolve, including future leadership potential tied to succession planning.</li><li><b>Honest & Supportive Culture - </b>A workplace grounded in practical thinking, clear expectations, and straightforward communication, with the belief that steady, dependable work deserves recognition.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>About the Collective</b></p><p>At <b>Hughes Collective</b>, we don't just recruit, we revolutionize how talent meets opportunity.
